We made the trip to see the pediatric surgeon on friday. Drove across town, nervously watching the clock to make sure we were on time for the appointment. Navigated the Clarian North Hospital parking lot, professional office building, and of course - the elevators, with a big bulky stroller. Waited in the Riley Children's office waiting room for over an hour (thank you Aidan, for deciding to have a nice big poopy diaper, and making the nurse skip us to the next waiting family, since Mommy was in the restroom changing your diaper when our name was called!).
And we find out.... it is NOTHING! Dr. Rouse was so nice, with a soft voice and a great bedside manner. And he explained the possibilities that would require surgery, but assured us Aidan has none of those. His belly button is just taking longer than normal to heal, but it looks just fine. A few small dabs of silver nitrate, and we were out the door. No surgery needed! Of course we are relieved. And his belly button is almost completely healed - apparently Dr. Rouse had the magic touch. We are so glad this scare was only that and nothing more, thanks for all the good luck wishes, they worked!
